"Good morning, beloved homeland," Chavez posted on his Twitter account, adding "What a beautiful full moon greeted us at midnight."

The 57-year-old leftist leader announced in June that doctors in Cuba removed a cancerous tumor from his body, not specifying what kind of cancer he has. He has since returned to Cuba twice for chemotherapy treatment.
