Spanish protesters hit the streets, again

MADRID, July 25 (UPI) -- Protesters demonstrated against Spain's high unemployment rate and demanded more transparency in politics -- the latest in a series of protests.

Thousands of protesters from the M-15 movement gathered in Madrid's Puerta del Sol Plaza Sunday where they marched to the health ministry, Congress and ended at the Bank of Spain, El Pais reported.

The demonstrators chanted slogans and held signs urging the unemployed to organize themselves.

Spanish authorities cleared an area in Valencia earlier this month where protesters had been camping out for three months.

The M-15 movement started in reaction to Spain's 21 percent jobless rate right before elections May 22, demanding reform of Spain's democratic system
