SANAA, Yemen, July 21 (UPI) -- An al-Qaida leader on the Yemeni government's most-wanted list was killed during a fight with government forces, Defense Ministry officials said.
Aieth al-Shabwani was the terrorist organization's leader in Marib province, believed to be a haven for the militant group's loyalists, CNN reported Thursday.
A second al-Qaida leader, Awad al-Shabwani, was killed in clashes with government soldiers Tuesday in Zanzibar, the capital of Abyan province, the ministry said.
Security officials said military forces also arrested Abdul-Rahman Mohammed Dawan, an al-Qaida militant wanted for the deaths of 10 soldiers killed in a June 6 ambush in Mukairas, also in Abyan province, the Yemeni news agency SABA reported.
"The military forces are keeping on hunting the terrorists of al-Qaida," a security official said.
