PARIS, July 16 (UPI) -- French first lady Carla Bruni-Sarkozy confirmed she is pregnant but says she doesn't know if she is having a boy or a girl.

The confirmation in the French newspaper Nice-Matin was anti-climactic, People magazine reported Saturday, since the former supermodel has already begun wearing maternity clothes and her husband, President Nicolas Sarkozy, first announced the upcoming blessed event back in May.

Bruni-Sarkozy, 43, took an old-fashioned tack when discussing the matter. She did not reveal a due date nor did she say what the sex of the baby was.

"That, I don't even know myself," she said. "There are certain things which one should keep secret."

President Sarkozy, 58, has three sons from previous marriages and became a grandfather last year, People said.
