CAIRO, July 12 (UPI) -- Corruption trials for members of ousted President Hosni Mubarak's government will be held in public, the Supreme Judicial Council said Tuesday.
Judge Hossam Ghariani, head of the Court of Cassation, said the trials will be shown to an overflow crowd on giant screens outside the courthouse, the Middle East News Agency reported. The same procedure would apply for police officers accused of killing protesters during the large demonstrations that preceded Mubarak's downfall.
The Muslim Brotherhood sued in April, seeking to overturn a previous ruling by the council that the trials should be held in private without media coverage.
Ghariani said the trials should be moved to larger courtrooms so as many people as possible can watch them in person.
