Nowshera is a military town and army officers were among the dead and wounded, local officials told the Times.

No group had claimed responsibility for the two attacks, which came on the heels of the reported death of al-Qaida-linked militant Ilyas Kashmiri in a U.S. drone attack in Pakistan.
