The earthquake hit in the same south-central region devastated by a massive quake in February 2010.

Chile's National Office of Emergency of the Interior Ministry said there were no reports of damage or injuries as a result of the latest temblor, which occurred at 8:55 a.m. EDT.

The quake that hit Chile on Feb. 27, 2010, was the sixth-largest earthquake ever recorded by seismograph and took the lives of at least 700 people.

In April, Chile experienced two major earthquakes in Valparaiso at 5.1 magnitude and another registering at 5.9 magnitude in the Tarapaca region.
