"The blaze of victory has not faded but we are rekindling the May 25 anniversary as it [marks] a new page in the history of this nation," Ali Daher, a Hezbollah media official, told The Daily Star Monday.

"This year's activities will have greater momentum in both form and number, despite the passage of 11 years since the liberation."

A number of Palestinian organizations plan to participate in celebrations close to Israel's border, Daher said.

Banners and signs have been put up in villages and on roads near the border.

On May 24, 2000, Israel completed the withdrawal of its forces from southern Lebanon to the international border in accordance with a United Nations Security Council resolution.
