KIRKUK, Iraq, May 23 (UPI) -- Five policemen and two bystanders were killed Monday by a car bomb in Kirkuk, Iraq, an Interior Ministry official said.
The attack's target was a convoy carrying police Capt. Ahmed Abdul-Ghafour, who was wounded, the official told CNN.

Arabs, Kurds and Turkmen are struggling for control of the oil-rich northern city.
On Sunday, a wave of explosions shook Baghdad, killing at least 19 people and wounding dozens.
