CAIRO, May 19 (UPI) -- A former Egyptian member of parliament has asked for a criminal investigation of Suzanne Mubarak, wife of former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak.
Mostafa Bakry alleged that Mubarak took money she solicited for charity and used it for herself before turning the money and a villa over to the Illicit Gains Authority, al-Masry al-Youm reported.
In a letter to Attorney General Abdel Meguid Mahmoud, Bakry said Suzanne Mubarak deposited money intended for charities into her personal bank account and she used it for personal expenses for a period of time.
Mubarak and former Information Minister Anas al-Fiqqi are accused of taking foreign donations for the "Reading For All" project, which the former first lady launched.
The report did not say how much money is involved.
