KHARTOUM, Sudan, May 18 (UPI) -- Another round of Sudanese air strikes on a village in the country's Darfur region is being investigated, a United Nations-African Union mission said Wednesday.
The mission said it sent peacekeepers to try to collect information on casualties and people displaced by the air strikes Tuesday in the village of Sukamir, about 62 miles northeast of El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur state, the United Nations said in a release.
The attacks took place two days after government forces conducted air strikes in South Darfur state, bombing Labado and Esheraya.
Sudanese officials also have restricted the movement of aid workers in South Darfur, citing security threats and ongoing military operations, the United Nations said.
