Police find half-eaten human remains

MOSCOW, May 17 (UPI) -- Russian police said they arrested a Moscow man after finding the half-eaten human remains of a friend in his apartment.

A stew found in the suspect's refrigerator had been made from a human liver, the official Russian news agency RIA Novosti reported Tuesday.

Police said the liver was part of the same dismembered human body that was found scattered around Moscow in recent weeks.

The decapitated head of a middle-aged man was discovered in the Moskva River last week.

Earlier this month, authorities said an arm that had been severed at the wrist was pulled from water under a bridge in south Moscow's Tsaritsino Park.

Two feet were found floating nearby and a hand and another arm was discovered later in the same area.

Police said they believe the suspect killed his friend and tried to destroy the evidence by severing his body parts and hiding them around the city.

The suspect, whose identity has not been released, has a history of mental illness, police said.
