CAIRO, May 17 (UPI) -- The wife of ousted Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak was released on bail Tuesday, a day after agreeing to surrender assets to the state, officials said.
Suzanne Mubarak, 73, was hospitalized Friday after the Illicit Gains Authority ordered a 15-day detention, al-Masry al-Youm reported. State television said Tuesday she had been granted bail.
A notary told the Middle East News Agency Suzanne Mubarak had signed forms turning over two bank accounts and a villa at Heliopolis to the IGA.
"She signed on the proxy and seemed exhausted. My task took about 10 minutes," he said.
Mubarak and her 83-year-old husband are facing questions about their finances as part of a government corruption investigation. Their personal wealth has been estimated in the tens of millions of dollars.
She is being treated at the same hospital as her husband in the Red Sea resort town of Sharm el-Sheik.
