More bodies found in Mexican grave sites

SAN FERNANDO, Mexico, April 11 (UPI) -- The number of bodies found in grave sites near San Fernando in Tamaulipas state in Mexico has risen to 88, the country's Defense Ministry said Monday.

Mexican officials also announced they have detained a 12th suspect in the kidnapping and massacre of passengers in buses traveling in Mexico, The Brownsville (Texas) Herald reported.

Officials said the suspect, Armando Cesar Morales Uscanga, confessed to participating in the kidnapping and massacre of passengers in buses March 24-29 in San Fernando, about 80 miles from Brownsville. Investigators said the suspect provided information that led to the discovery of four more graves holding 16 bodies.

Last week, officials found 72 bodies, some of which they said showed signs of being burned while the victims were alive. The Tamaulipas prosecutor's office said a joint investigation of federal and state officials led to the arrests of 11 suspects and the rescue of five captives.
