BAGHDAD, April 11 (UPI) -- Bombings and shootings across Iraq left at least eight people dead and dozens wounded, officials said.
Two car-bomb explosions near a marketplace in Fallujah killed six people and injured 20 others Monday, local police said.
An explosives expert, a police officer and a soldier were among the dead, an official told Xinhua, China's state-run news agency.
The blasts occurred near a market in central Fallujah when a bomb-laden vehicle detonated, followed by a second car bomb being triggered, police said. Officials said a demolition team was defusing bombs when the car bombs went off.
The explosions destroyed several vehicles parked nearby and damaged several shops, Xinhua said.
Al-Sumaria reported Monday a media official for Iraq's Parliament was killed and two others were wounded in a bombing in al-Hurriya region of northwestern Baghdad.
Officials also reported a roadside bomb on a main street in Baghdad wounded 13 people and damaged a number of vehicles.
In Dora, a sniper shot and killed a police officer, al-Samuria reported.
Police said two suspects were arrested in a bombing in western Baquba, in which one civilian was injured.
