BRISBANE, Australia, March 31 (UPI) -- Officials at a Catholic school in Australia say they did not realize a group promotes a "gay cure" when it was invited to give a presentation.
St. Columban's College in Caboolture, Queensland, said the invitation to Miracle Christian Center has been withdrawn, The Courier-Mail of Brisbane reported. Principal Ann Rebgetz said the group misled the school about what was planned.
The invitation angered many students at the school. A former student organized a protest on Facebook.
Dorian Ballard, head of Miracle Christian Center, said the group is not homophobic.
"We are not afraid of homosexuals; we love them, we've ministered to them for years," Ballard said. "This topic is always up for debate. It's great to hear a lot of different views in the broad spectrum and we have been silenced, we have been discriminated against."
