Fire damages Pakistani marketplace

KARACHI, Pakistan, March 27 (UPI) -- Investigators say a fire in the Empress Market in Karachi, Pakistan, affected about 25 percent of the market's shops.

It wasn't known what caused Sunday's early-morning blaze, which burned goods worth millions of rupees, Geo News reported.

A rupee is worth about 2.2 cents American.

Many of the markets sell dried fruits and daily household items.

Officials said fire crews from across the city battled the fire for more than two hours.

No injuries were reported.
