Brazilian youth perform for first lady

BRASILIA, Brazil, March 19 (UPI) -- U.S. first lady Michelle Obama returned a visit from Brazilian "youth ambassadors" Saturday, attending a music and dance performance in Brasilia.

She said, "I promised I'd come to your neighborhood and I'm here," the White House press pool reported.

In January 2010, Obama met at the White House with Brazilians from the State Department's Youth Ambassadors Program.

Raizes do Brazil, performing the traditional martial arts-style capoeira dance, wore T-shirts with the American and Brazilian flags that read, "Yes we can! Yes we did! -- Barack Obama" and occasionally added an "Obama!" to their lyrics.

Batala, a female drumming group, followed.

Obama was accompanied by her daughters Sasha and Malia, her mother Marian Robinson, the girls' godmother, Eleanor Kaye Wilson, and Guisela Shannon, wife of U.S. Ambassador Thomas Shannon.
