Greek authorities nab terrorism suspects

ATHENS, Greece, March 14 (UPI) -- Raids by police anti-terrorist squads looking for members of an urban guerrilla group resulted in seven arrests in Athens and Volos, officials in Greece said.

Police also seized two AK-47 assault rifles, several handguns, bullets, wigs, bulletproof vests and police uniforms and walkie-talkies, eKathimerini reported.

Police were looking for suspected members of the Conspiracy of the Cells of Fire urban guerrilla group.

A police source told the newspaper three of the suspects allegedly belong to the guerrilla group.

Nine members of the group, which has claimed responsibility for a series of bloodless bombings, are now on trial. Four others are being tried in absentia.

Five of the suspects were taken into custody following an operation in the Nea Ionia area of Volos. The other two were apprehended in Athens.
