Spanish high court charges ETA leaders

MADRID, March 8 (UPI) -- A Spanish judge has charged two former leaders of the Basque terrorist group ETA for their alleged involvement with Colombian rebels.

Judge Eloy Velasco charged ETA leaders Mikel Kabikoitz Karrera Sarobe and Francisco Javier Lopez Pena Monday with allegedly being intermediaries for the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia -- FARC -- in Venezuela, El Pais reported Tuesday.

Velasco also accused four other ETA members of training guerrillas in the use of explosives, and setting up an encrypting system to aid communication between ETA and FARC.

Both Sarobe and Pena are in custody. The judge issued international arrest warrants for the other suspects.
