KABUL, Afghanistan, Feb. 27 (UPI) -- Two landmines exploded at a picnic hosted by a former Afghan police chief Sunday, killing 10 people and wounding 17 others, officials said.
Two police officers were among the dead and five were among the injured in the Arghandab district of Kandahar Province, CNN reported.

The mines were planted in a playground and exploded during the picnic hosted by the district's former police chief, Arghandab's district governor said.
"The leadership of ministry of interior strongly condemns the insurgent's un-Islamic and inhumane action," Afghanistan's interior ministry said. "The police have launched an investigation in to the case."
No one has claimed responsibility for the blasts.
