DUBAI, United Arab Emirates, Feb. 9 (UPI) -- An Emirati sailor sentenced to death for the rape and murder of a 4-year-old Pakistani boy will be executed in a few days, a top judicial source said.
The source told Gulf News that an exact date for Rashid al Rashidi's execution has not been finalized but it will take place very soon.
"The execution will be carried out in a few days," said Rashidi's advocate. "I am still waiting to be legally and officially informed about this through the Dubai Public Prosecution."
Rashidi, 31, was convicted in the United Arab Emirates of killing Mousa Mukhtiar Ahmad, 4, in the washroom of a Dubai mosque on the first day of Eid Al Adha in November of 2009.
Psychiatrists testified at his trial that Rashidi was a pedophile obsessed with boys. However, they said he was of sound mind.
His death sentence was unanimously approved by 11 judges.
