Davis, who has been in custody, says he shot the two in self-defense when they tried to rob him.

Prior to her death, the woman was quoted as telling reporters she had decided to end her life to protest the alleged favorable treatment being given the accused and that he would be released, the report said.

Her cousin said the woman took the poison after learning Davis would be handed over to the U.S. government without trial, Dawn reported.

The U.S. Embassy in Pakistan says the shootings were in self-defense while the two men, riding a motorcycle, tried to rob Davis as he drove through a busy neighborhood, CNN reported.

Pakistani authorities, who searched the bodies of the two men, are reported to have found stolen cellphones and cash belonging to earlier robbery victims.
