MOSCOW, Jan. 25 (UPI) -- President Obama mingled condolences on the Moscow airport bombing and congratulations on the START treaty in a call Tuesday to his Russian counterpart.

In his telephone call to President Dmitry Medvedev, Obama said the United States condemns the bombing, which killed 35 people and injured 110. He also promised to work with Russia on anti-terrorist efforts.

Obama congratulated Medvedev on the Russian Duma's ratification of the new START treaty, which aims to reduce the nuclear weapons stockpiles in both countries.

Investigators said they believe the bombing was the work of nationalist extremists from the volatile North Caucasus region. The blast Monday in an arrivals area at Domodedovo Airport in Moscow appeared to be the work of a suicide bomber.
