LONDON, Jan. 8 (UPI) -- A British member of Parliament stoked ethnic issues, telling The Daily Telegraph Pakistani men were capitalizing on white women as "easy meat" for sale.
Former Labor Party Home Secretary Jack Straw made the remarks in an interview about the convictions of two Pakistani men for the sexual assaults of girls between the ages of 12 and 18 in Derby.
"There is a specific problem which involves Pakistani heritage men ... who target vulnerable young white girls," Straw said. "We need to get the Pakistani community to think much more clearly about why this is going on and to be more open about the problems that are leading to a number of Pakistani heritage men thinking it is OK to target white girls in this way."
Referring to last week's convictions of two Pakistani men on sexual assault and pimping charges, Straw said there was a social problem.
"They see these young women, white girls who are vulnerable, some of them in (social) care ... who they think are easy meat," Straw said.
Police have charged 13 Pakistani nationals with sex-related offenses involving 26 women in recent months, the report said.
