TORONTO, Jan. 4 (UPI) -- A judge in Toronto Tuesday ordered a U.S. actress-singer accused of kidnapping a baby girl at a movie casting call held until a court hearing next week.
Michelle Marie Gopaul, 24, is charged with one count of abduction of a person under 14 in the Dec. 30 kidnapping of a 1-month-old infant in Toronto. She is to return to court Jan. 11, Postmedia News reported.
Gopaul allegedly took the baby after the parents responded to a Craigslist advertisement announcing a casting call for a Bollywood movie, police said.
Gopaul allegedly told the parents she was a casting director and took the baby into a private room. After a time, the parents went to look for their baby and discovered she and Gopaul were gone, Postmedia News said.
The infant was brought to a police station about 4 hours later, unharmed, authorities said.
