At least 7 dead in car bomb in Egypt

ALEXANDRIA, Egypt, Dec. 31 (UPI) -- At least seven people were killed and at least 24 were wounded Saturday when a car bomb exploded outside a church in Alexandria, Egypt, authorities said.

Citing security officials whose names were not reported, Egyptian media reported that the car bomb went off at 12:20 p.m. local time in front of the Church of Two Saints, CNN reported.

Coptic Christians were attending a service inside the church, the report said.

Egypt's MENA news service reported the explosion caused damage to a nearby mosque and injured eight Muslims.

MENA said Egyptian officials blamed foreign elements for the explosion, CNN said.
