AMMAN, Jordan, Dec. 24 (UPI) -- Jordan's Education Ministry called on the country's schools to use officially approved textbooks after it was reported a private school studied the Holocaust.
The al-Dustour newspaper reported the ministry's request after it was discovered that textbooks used by the private school contained chapters on the Holocaust and excerpts from Anne Frank's diary, Ynetnews.com said Friday.
The school was asked to stop using the textbook, the Web site said.
In response to the newspaper report, the country's minister of education and deputy prime minister, Khalid Karaki, called for a panel of inquiry to "examine and write a report about the implications of the incident."
The ministry said "the inclusion of additional study materials" is prohibited unless the materials have official approval.
The ministry will look into other schools that have used similar materials, Ynetnews.com said.
