MOSCOW, Dec. 17 (UPI) -- A wealthy Russian says he will build a $100 million school west of Moscow, near the high-tech hub of Skolkovo.

Russian tycoon Suleiman Kerimov said he plans to build the school near his home in Zarechye, an exclusive residential area, RIA Novosti reported.

The newspaper Vedomosti quoted a friend of Kerimov's as saying: "Suleiman likes ambitious projects. He likes new electronic gadgets. He is good at information technology. It's no wonder he decided to invest in the creation of a brand new school."

The Kremlin reportedly hailed the project, which is backed by Deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov.

The school's library will be available in digital format so teachers and students can download its material on Apple iPads.

The school will include a swimming pool, dance floor, a residential area for gifted children and a skating rink.

The report did not say when construction would begin or when the school will be ready for use.
