SEOUL, Dec. 13 (UPI) -- A South Korean fishing ship sank off the Antarctic coast Monday, leaving five crew members dead and 17 missing, officials said.
Yonhap News Agency reported 20 crew members were rescued by another fishing vessel, which was conducting search and rescue operations for the missing sailors.
The 614-ton fishing ship went down about 4:30 a.m. Korean time, the South Korean news agency said. The ill-fated ship's crew included South Koreans, eight Chinese, 11 Indonesians, three Filipinos and one Russian.
South Korea asked New Zealand for help in the rescue operations, officials said.
