Israelis abroad warned of possible attacks

JERUSALEM, Dec. 10 (UPI) -- Israel has advised its diplomats and others abroad to remain vigilant, warning they may be targeted by Iran or Hezbollah, Israeli security officials said.

"You may be targeted by Iran and Hezbollah as an act of revenge following attacks on nuclear scientists in Tehran," a cable sent from Jerusalem said, Ynetnews.com reported Friday.

The warning was sent to Israeli diplomats, envoys, scientists, academics and hundreds of representatives of Israeli organizations and asked that they take extra precautions, the Web site said.

Israeli security officials said the fear of revenge stems from Iran's accusations against Israel's intelligence agency, the Mossad, in connection with attacks on two nuclear scientists in Tehran last week.

Bombs placed on the cars of two nuclear scientists exploded as they headed for work at the Shahid Beheshti University.

Majid Shahriari was killed and Fereydoun Abbasi and his wife suffered minor injuries.

In January, nuclear scientist Massoud Ali Mohammadi was killed by bomb outside his Tehran home.
