Ex-coach's release on bail delayed

WINNIPEG, Manitoba, Dec. 7 (UPI) -- A former Canadian junior hockey coach facing new sex charges will have to wait until Dec. 17 to be released on bail, a judge decided Tuesday afternoon.

Manitoba provincial court Judge Rocky Pollack agreed to set bail for Graham James, a convicted sex offender, but not before terms of his release are worked out, the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. reported. The hearing is to reconvene in Winnipeg in 10 days.

James, 58, who has been in custody since late October, faces nine sex-related charges for crimes he allegedly committed against three boys from 1979 until the mid-1990s.

One of his alleged victims is Theoren Fleury, now 42 and a former NHL star who played for James as a teen. The other two complainants can't be named because of a publication ban.
