JUAREZ, Mexico, Dec. 5 (UPI) -- Four Mexican policemen were ambushed and shot to death and six civilians were also gunned down in the Mexican border city of Juarez, police said.
The two apparently unrelated shooting sprees happened midday Saturday and police said they had few leads in the investigations, the state-run Notimex news agency said.
Officials said four officers responded to an emergency call at an intersection in the city and were shot by a group of armed men, CNN said.
In the ambush, three vehicles blocked in the police car and the officers were shot before any of them had time to draw their weapons, the reports said.
Soon after, gunmen burst into a barbecue party of metal shop workers and killed six people, Notimex said.
The city torn by drug violence borders El Paso, Texas. Last week, a regional police commander, Alvaro Ramirez, was shot multiple times and killed by hit men, The El Paso Times said.
