BANGKOK, Nov. 19 (UPI) -- The death toll from Thailand's floods has reached 232 amid warnings of more flooding and landslides from seasonal monsoons, officials said.
Deaths have been reported in 29 of 51 provinces affected by floods this year, the Thai News Agency reported Friday.
Director General Wiboon Sanguanpong of the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department said drowning was the main cause of death, followed by electrical shock and landslides.
The situation has improved in 35 provinces, and restoration and reconstruction work is being undertaken, Wiboon said.
Officials say they are monitoring the southern provinces along the Gulf of Thailand and the Andaman coast, which may face further flooding and landslides as seasonal monsoon weather systems move in.
