Carjackers kill honeymooner near Cape Town

CAPE TOWN, South Africa, Nov. 15 (UPI) -- A Swedish woman on her honeymoon was killed by carjackers in South Africa, authorities said.

The woman, Anni Dewani, 28, and her millionaire husband, Shrien Dawani, 31, were taking a taxi back to their hotel after dinner Sunday when two armed men hijacked the vehicle near Cape Town, the Swedish news Agency TT reported.

The gunmen later released the husband, who notified police, and the woman's body was found in the back seat of the taxi, the report said.

"It's just terrible. She was the most beautiful girl in the world," Dewani's father, Vinod Hindocha, told the Swedish newspaper Expressen. "There aren't words to describe her. She was a dream girl."

Police refused to say how the woman died but her father said she had been shot in the chest three times.

The Dewanis were married three weeks ago in India.
