MANILA, Philippines, Nov. 4 (UPI) -- At least six people died in the Philippines Isabela province, which was hit by a landslide triggered by heavy rains, officials said Thursday.
Provincial Gov. Faustino Dy said the victims lived in San Mariano, one of 12 towns inundated by flood waters following three days of torrential rain, ABS-CBN News reported.
Flooding also submerged 74 villages in nearby Cagayan province, and the flooding was expected to further worsen humanitarian efforts in Isabela and Cagayan, which were hit hard by Typhoon Juan last month.
Authorities said the Cagayan River overflowed after four days of rains. Some flood victims are living in tents. Houses in Barangay Centro in Tuguegarao City were submerged, with only their roofs showing, the report said.
