Mounties seek copycat serial killer

VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Nov. 3 (UPI) -- A second serial killer in Vancouver, Canada, is being sought by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in what's believed to be copycat killings.

The investigation involved the bodies of three women found within weeks of each other in 1995, Staff Sgt. John Cater told the Toronto Star.

They were found in the same area as victims of serial killer Robert Pickton, the pig farmer now serving a life sentence with no parole for the killing spree that began in the 1980s and ended with his 2002 arrest.

However, Cater said a second killer was being sought.

"Pickton has been excluded of being responsible for these murders," he said. "There is no connection whatsoever."

The three victims have all been identified and were known sex trade workers and drug users, police said. While Pickton made efforts to conceal the bodies of his victims, the three other bodies were left out in the open in remote areas, investigators said.
