JERUSALEM, Oct. 25 (UPI) -- Israeli officials are preparing for the possibility of Iran developing nuclear capability, an official at Israel's Foreign Ministry said.

"You prepare for a natural disaster even though you do everything in your power to make sure that it doesn't happen," the unnamed official said in a report in The Jerusalem Post. "You have fire drills, even if you do everything you can to ensure that a fire never breaks out."

The foreign and defense ministries regularly draw up contingency plans for any number of unwanted scenarios, the official said.

Until now, most of the focus has been on how to prevent Iran from developing its nuclear capability, not how to deal with it if it does, the report said.
