AMMAN, Jordan, Oct. 5 (UPI) -- The Jordanian leadership is waiting for the outcome of peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians before appointing an ambassador to Israel, a report said.
The London newspaper Alpha said Tuesday, King Abdullah is waiting to see what implications the current round of peace talks will have on the Hashemite Kingdom before making a decision.
It is the third time the appointment has been postponed, the paper said Tuesday.
One of the candidates for the position is retired Lt. Gen. Muhammad al-Raud, who has extensive military experience, the AMMONNEWS Web site said.
The newspaper said the Jordanian government was to have nominated an ambassador to Tel Aviv last month but a dispute over a suitable candidate led to the postponement.
