Jet makes emergency landing in London

LONDON, Oct. 2 (UPI) -- A faulty light caused a Boeing 747 to make an emergency landing at London's Heathrow airport where it had taken off from 11 minutes earlier, officials said.

The plane, with 296 people on board, returned to the airport Saturday after a warning light in the cockpit indicated a door was not completely closed, The Daily Telegraph reported.

Passengers on the British Airways jumbo jet deplaned, and were to be put on another flight, an airline spokeswoman said.

"Obviously it takes a bit of time to find another aircraft but we are looking to do that as soon as possible," the spokeswoman said.
