TEHRAN, Aug. 24 (UPI) -- A top Iranian general said Tuesday the United States and Israel are unlikely to launch a military attack against his country.

Brig. Gen. Yahya Rahim Safavi, the senior military adviser to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, says the two nations are not "in suitable condition" to do so, Iran's Press TV reported.

Safavi's statement follows remarks made last week by John Bolton, the former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations.

Bolton said time is running out for Israel to launch an attack against Iran's Bushehr nuclear plant before it is loaded with fuel.

The plant is expected to be fully operational by the end of September.

Safavi issued a warning even though he said he doubts Israel or the United States will launch an attack.

"The enemy should not be underestimated," Safavi said. "Wisdom tells Iran's forces to be ready ... to fully defend (its territory)."
