Satanists sentenced for deaths of 4 teens

MOSCOW, July 27 (UPI) -- Seven self-professed Satanists got prison sentences in a Russian court for killing four teenagers and desecrating their bodies as part of an initiation ritual.

The group's leader, Nikolai Ogolobyak, 21, was sentenced by the Yaroslavl Regional Court Monday to 20 years in prison on charges of murder, robbery and desecrating a corpse, The Moscow Times reported Tuesday. Five other cult members were sentenced to prison terms ranging from eight to 10 years on the same charges, while a sixth person drew a two-year term.

An eighth suspect, 21-year-old Anton Makovkin, also called "Dr. Goth," was ruled mentally incompetent and will be housed in a mental institution, court officials said.

The court ruled that the group killed three high school boys and one girl, then dismembered and buried them. The victims reportedly were involved in the Goth subculture and met with the sect members because they were curious.
