ISLAMABAD, Pakistan, July 3 (UPI) -- Fighting during Pakistani military operations in the Orakzai Agency left 10 suspected militants dead, government officials announced Saturday.
An attack on a government checkpoint in Upper Orakzai Saturday was repulsed with four militants killed and another six were killed in a separate clash in the lower region of the agency.
DAWN reported that government forces reported they were in control of parts of the Orakzai Agency, a tribal region that borders a large part of Afghanistan.
In eastern Pakistan, the chief minister of Punjab said Saturday that foreigners appeared to have had a hand in recent terror attacks.
Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif told reporters that the government was on the verge of cracking the Taliban network in his state.
Shahbaz was in Sargodah Saturday to meet with the family of a security guard killed in the recent attack on the religious shrine in Lahore known as Data Darbar, DAWN said.
