OTTAWA, June 23 (UPI) -- A 5.5-magnitude earthquake shook parts of eastern Canada Wednesday, geological monitors said.
The U.S. Geological Survey said the 1:41 p.m. temblor occurred at a depth of 9.8 miles, centered 33 miles north-northeast of Ottawa, Ontario.

The Canwest News Service said the quake near the Quebec-Ontario border was felt as far away as Toronto. Montreal police had received no reports of injuries or damage.
