OTTAWA, June 18 (UPI) -- Three men, one of them a retired civil servant, face charges in the firebombing of a Canadian bank, Ottawa police said Friday.
Investigators said the three would be formally charged Saturday when more details would be released about the arrests, the Ottawa Citizen reported.
One of the three was charged with careless storage of ammunition a few days after the May 18 bombing of a Royal Bank of Canada branch. That charge was not related to the firebombing.
Another, the retired civil servant, rented an sport utility vehicle allegedly used as a getaway vehicle. In a recent interview with the Citizen, he denied any involvement.
The third, described as being in his 20s, was arrested Friday afternoon.
An anarchist group FFFC-Ottawa has claimed responsibility for the bombing. In online postings, the group said RBC was a target because it sponsored the Vancouver Winter Olympics, held on land seized from the Indians, and also linked the attack to the upcoming Group of 8-Group of 20 meetings in Ontario.
