Bombings kill 3 in Mosul

MOSUL, Iraq, June 15 (UPI) -- Separate attacks in and around the northern Iraqi city of Mosul left three civilians dead and four policemen injured, officials said Tuesday.

In one attack late Monday, Iraqi police said gunmen broke into a house in the al-Yousef area south of Mosul, killing three family members, the Kuwaiti news agency KUNA reported.

The four police officers were injured Monday when a bomb exploded along a main thoroughfare in the city, police said.

Sources also told KUNA Iraqi security forces Tuesday in Nainawa arrested a suspected participant in the assassination earlier this month of Faris Jassim al-Jabouri, who ran unsuccessfully as a candidate of the Iraqiya Party in Iraq's parliamentary elections in March.
