Acrobat accused of spreading HIV

SYDNEY, May 25 (UPI) -- Police in Australia say a circus acrobat accused of spreading HIV has given authorities the names of 12 women with whom he had unprotected sex.

Godfrey Zaburoni, 31, is being extradited to Queensland where he was to appear in court Wednesday, the Australian Broadcasting Corp. reported Tuesday.

Police in Queensland filed charges against Zaburoni after a woman complained he had infected her with HIV.

Health officials say at least 12 women in Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria may have been infected by Zaburoni.

"Unfortunately, he was not able to give us sufficient information so we could contact those women directly," said Dr. Jeanette Young, Queensland's chief health officer.

Zaburoni, an Australian citizen who was born in Zimbabwe, has appeared as a contestant on the program "Australia's Got Talent."
