Nelson was sentenced to eight months in jail for time already served and three years of supervised probation.

Police found more than 1,000 images and 88 videos involving child pornography when they searched Nelson's computer in 2008. The search was conducted after a woman in the Philippines inadvertently received photos Nelson was sending over the Internet. She contacted Filipino authorities who alerted Canadian police.

Several months after the police search, Nelson was arrested for exposing himself to two children ages 5 and 9 and has been in police custody since, authorities said.
