Explosion injures 8 at India cricket match

The BBC said the match went ahead after a security search of the grounds, with about 40,000 spectators in Chinnaswamy Stadium watching the Mumbai Indians beat the Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Police commissioner Shankar Bidari told a news conference the bomb was a "low-intensity" explosive, the BBC reported. "It appears some sort of explosive material was hidden in the wall, some distance away from the stands."

The Press Trust of India said two bombs exploded outside the stadium minutes before the match was to begin, injuring 15 and creating panic.

A third bomb was found and defused, the PTI said.

Neither report gave details of suspects.
