SKHIRAT, Morocco, March 27 (UPI) -- Authorities are searching for an Abu Dhabi Investment Fund managing director after a glider crash in Morocco, a United Arab Emirates agency says.
The Emirates' state news agency, WAM, reported authorities are attempting to locate Sheik Ahmed bin Zayed al-Nahyan, who was on board a glider airplane that crashed into a lake in Skhirat, Morocco, CNN reported Saturday.
Following the crash, the pilot of the aircraft was rescued in good condition. The suspected cause of the crash was not released.
Nahyan also serves as the chairman for the Zayed Foundation for Charity and Humanitarian Works' board of trustees. He is the brother of Abu Dhabi Emir Sheik Khalifa bin Zayed al-Nahyan.
The missing executive was ranked 27th on Forbes' list of "The World's Most Powerful People" in 2009.
"We prefer to be seen simply as a globally diversified investment institution, with the difference being that our owner is the government of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi," Nahyan said in January of the Adu Dhabi Investment Fund. "ADIA's sole mission, which has not changed in over 30 years, is to secure and maintain the current and future welfare of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi."
